The group is tasked with reviewing issues related to beneficial use with the overall goal of increasing beneficial use of secondary materials in Maine.  The group is trying to remove barriers that currently exist for beneficial use in Maine through:

Review of Chapter 418 of the DEP's Maine Solid Waste Management Rules
Legislative efforts to reduce barriers
Research projects by the University of Maine Civil Engineering Department

This website is a result of a UMaine project to create a Beneficial Use Center which contains environmental and engineering data on industrial waste materials with the potential for beneficial use.
